The Windsor Forest Colleges Group is proud of its diverse student and staff community. The College currently has students from more than 100 nations, with the youngest aged 14 and the oldest 90.
Our Single Equality Scheme outlines how we seek to ensure that the College is free from discrimination and strives constantly to move beyond legal compliance towards best practice in promoting and celebrating equality and diversity.
We are committed to promoting equality and opposing discrimination on the protected characteristics under The Equality Act 2010, namely:
- Age
- Race
- Gender
- Disability
- Sexual orientation
- Values, beliefs and faith
- Socio-economic background
- Transgender/gender re-assignment
- Marriage/civil partnerships
- Pregnancy and maternity
Socio-economic background is not a “protected characteristic” under the Equality Act 2010, we have included it as we consider important the experiences of groups of people whose life chances may be affected by their social identity, in particular those from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds.
We will publish a range of equality data and information, to demonstrate how we are meeting the Public Sector Equality Duty. We will also publish equality objectives from April 2012.
Gender Pay Gap Reporting
As an employer we are required by law to carry out Gender Pay Gap Reporting under the Equality Act 2010 (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations 2017. This involves carrying out six calculations that show the difference between the average earnings of men and women in our College, it will not involve publishing individual employees data. We are required to publish the results on our own website and a government website within one calendar year of 31 March 2017.
We can use these results to assess:
- the levels of gender equality in our workplace
- the balance of male and female employees at different levels
- how effectively talent is being maximised and rewarded.
