Learners will be required to demonstrate the necessary abilities, skills, and knowledge to be able to service, maintain, and perform fault diagnosis and fault rectification of ventilation and HVAC systems.

Energy Efficiency
Energy Efficiency – Part L (BPEC)

This training course provides plumbers, heating installers, and gas engineers with the knowledge required to comply with Approved Document L, Volume 1 and Part L of the Building Regulations for new and existing dwellings.

The course covers energy efficiency requirements, legal compliance, and best practice for domestic heating and hot water systems, while supporting the industry’s move towards lower carbon homes and the Future Homes Standard.

Damp and Mould
Level 2 Award in Understanding Damp and Mould in Domestic Dwellings

The qualification provides participants with the knowledge and understanding needed to progress into further training or employment within the building maintenance or housing sectors.

The qualification covers the causes of damp, condensation, and mould in domestic dwellings, including how to identify, manage, remedy, and prevent these issues. It also supports greater awareness of tenant safety and housing responsibilities in line with Awaab’s Law.

Health & Safety
C&G Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace (4065)

This 2-day course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding required to work safely within a construction environment. It supports awareness of current health and safety responsibilities, risk prevention, and safe working practices on site.

Learning outcomes include:

  1. Understanding the principles of risk assessment for maintaining and improving health and safety at work
  2. Understanding the importance of safe manual handling in the workplace
  3. Understanding safe working practices when working at height

Safe Isolation with a lock
Safe Isolation of Low Voltage Electrical Systems Single and Three Phase

This course is designed for anyone who needs to carry out safe electrical isolation procedures as part of their work, including single-phase and three-phase isolation. It covers key sections of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (Regulations 3, 12, 13, 14, and 16), helping participants understand their legal responsibilities and how to safely prevent danger and injury.

The Single-Phase Safe Isolation course is completed in 1 day, while the Three-Phase Safe Isolation course is completed over 2 days to include additional practical training and assessment.

Training includes both theory and practical assessments. On successful completion, candidates will receive a BPEC certificate valid for five years.

Ventilation (MVHR)

As the construction industry shifts towards sustainability and low-carbon solutions, there is a growing demand for skilled ventilation specialists. Our courses lay a solid foundation in modern ventilation systems, enabling learners to create healthier and more energy-efficient indoor spaces.

Recent changes to building regulations, including Awaab’s Law, the Renters Rights Act, and the introduction of the Future Homes Standard, have placed ventilation at the forefront of building services, making it a crucial consideration in both new builds and retrofits.

Through the Green Skills Academy at The Windsor Forest Colleges Group, candidates benefit from access to industry-standard equipment, expert tutors, and practical training grounded in real-world scenarios. This approach ensures learners not only grasp theoretical concepts but also develop the ability to confidently install, commission, and maintain domestic ventilation systems.

The course covers intermittent, continuous, and heat recovery systems (MVHR), providing comprehensive knowledge of the main technologies used in domestic ventilation.

Throughout the course, you will develop essential skills in airflow calculation, fault finding, and performance testing. You’ll also gain a thorough understanding of building regulations, health and safety requirements, and best practices for improving indoor air quality and energy efficiency – all highly prized by clients, and employers in the construction and building services industry.
