Designed for plumbers, heating engineers and gas installers, this course provides comprehensive guidance on meeting the requirements of Approved Document L, Volume 1, for both new and existing dwellings. It covers the latest energy efficiency requirements within Part L of the Building Regulations and explores how the industry is preparing for the forthcoming Future Homes Standard (FHS), which will significantly shape the future of domestic heating and building performance.

The course equips delegates with the knowledge needed to design, install and commission compliant heating and hot water systems, ensuring installations meet current regulations while supporting the UK’s drive towards net zero carbon emissions.

On successful completion, candidates will be able to self-certify eligible work through a recognised Competent Person Scheme (CPS), helping to demonstrate compliance and maintain professional standards.

Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, learners will develop a clear understanding of legal responsibilities, energy-efficient system design and consumer protection requirements, enabling them to deliver safe, compliant and future-ready installations.

This course has been approved by the Energy Saving Trust and the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC).

The price includes assessment & certification & is VAT exempt.

This course will allow you to build on your theoretical and practical understanding of these regulations, to ensure consumer safety as well as your legal compliance. It has been approved by the Energy Savings Trust and the Heating and Hot Water Information Council.

This course is taught at the Slough & Langley College campus in Langley, Berkshire, with access to industry-standard facilities and industry-experienced tutors.
