Good literacy and numeracy skills are essential along with good IT knowledge and keyboard skills. Although, learners are expected to gain / hold GCSE grades C/4 in English and Maths or equivalent by the end of level 1 to be able to progress to level 2
You will need to register directly with AAT and pay their level 1 one-registration fee. Instructions will be provided once enrolled, as well as details of how to apply for financial support if needed.
Course information
Students will learn underpinning theory including how to identify, assets, liabilities, income and expenses; how to Identify profit and loss; and the differences between trading for cash and trading on credit. Students will also develop skills to process customer and supplier transactions, to enter receipts and payments into the cash book and check amounts against the bank statement in preparation for bank reconciliation. Students will be introduced to the dual effect of transactions. This is a fundamental underpinning concept for double-entry bookkeeping and will support students who go on to study bookkeeping at foundation level.
