Course Overview

This Level 2 qualification enables the development of transferable business and personal skills alongside core accountancy skills, including double entry book-keeping. You will work through an eLearning platform, gaining a grasp of various routine accounting and commercial processes. You will also learn about basic costing principles and working with sales, purchase and general ledgers.

You are also required to register as a student directly with AAT and pay the one-off membership fee. This will give you access to a huge range of additional resources. Please enquire for current membership fees.

This is an online course that requires independent study, therefore applicants must have internet access and their own suitable device such as PC or laptop. The college are unable to supply equipment. Please note a smart phone is not sufficient to study from for this course.

Course information

The course is divided into four units which will enable you to achieve the defined professional standards.

1) Introduction to Bookkeeping
2) Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
3) Principles of Costing
4) The Business Environment

Study anytime, anywhere. We would recommend at least 3 hrs per week of self-study, depending on your prior knowledge. One of our AAT tutors will email you once you start the online course and will make regular contact with you. Their role is to assist you throughout the qualification and monitor your progress in each unit. We also encourage you to contact your tutor when needed. Failure to engage on the programme may result in withdrawal from the qualification. A Level 2 qualification takes on average 8-10 months.

Immediate starts are possible once your application has been processed, you will be able to study from anywhere, at any time. You will be working through an elearning platform so it is essential that you have access to your own suitable device (laptop, PC, tablet, not a mobile phone), as well as good internet access.

Commitment to the recommended study time is key to a successful outcome and timely success. Ensure you review your progress regularly and do not hesitate to make contact with your tutor if additional support is needed.

There will be four computer-based assessments (exams) – The course fee includes the exams if they are sat at one of the Windsor Forest Colleges. If you are not local to one of our campuses, you can arrange to sit an exam at an external exam centre. This will incur an additional exam fee, payable directly to the exam centre.

We recommend that you aim to take one unit exam every 6-8 weeks and 3 weeks’ notice is required to arrange exams, please note that you must have registered with AAT directly before exams can be booked. Failure to attend an exam for which you have been entered may result in a charge. Resit exam fees will apply.
