Course Overview

This is a creative course with an emphasis on practical problem solving in 3D using a range of modelling and resistant materials.

Design themes include product design, furniture design, architecture, interior design, packaging, promotional devices, signage and environmental design e.g. theme parks. Your coursework projects will develop your investigative, design, CAD and practical skills.

Course information

2 Years

This qualification is assessed by exam and coursework. The split is 50% exam, 50% coursework. The examined element will take place at the end of the second year and will focus on the principles of design and technology and has some mathematical content. The coursework is an independent design and make project, which is chosen by the student and aims to solve a problem for an external client.

Level 3 AQA GCE A Level in Art and Design

During your two years of study you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers, visit careers’ fairs and attend workshops, trips and visits.
