What's covered?

This course is validated and awarded by University College Birmingham and runs over two years (with an option to exit after one with a Certificate of Higher Education).

The programme provides technical, hand-on skills and knowledge that is required in the workplace and is designed to enhance employability at supervisory to managerial level. It develops the expertise of those already working in hospitality and tourism, or those wishing to establish a career in this growing and diverse industry. You will focus on specific industries of your choice and will develop generic management skills in areas including marketing, human resources and finance.

Workplace experience forms a core part of the learning programme, ensuring the development of employability skills, alongside technical and academic learning. Current employment can be considered as part of work placement learning requirements.

What do you need?

You will need a related Level 3 qualification in Business, Hospitality and/or Travel and Tourism, and a GCSE in English and Maths. Other Level 3 qualifications and professional experience will be considered.

How you are assessed

You will be assessed through essays, reports, presentations, observations, reflective accounts and examinations.

What course next?

On successful completion students have the opportunity to progress on to the final stage of the BA (Hons) Hospitality and Tourism Management at University College Birmingham, or apply for any other top-up degree programme.
