Course Overview

This course is for anyone who works with children and young people from 0 – 25 years (working in Children’s Centres, Secondary school support staff, Extended schools, Health & Social Care and Local Authority Practitioners and Advisory staff) and wants to improve their skills and knowledge whilst staying in their current job.

Foundation Degrees (FdA) are particularly appropriate for students considering returning to learning after a break or those who have not gained their qualifications through the traditional school-based route. The course does not qualify you to teach (QTS), or confer the title of Early Years Professional, but is a ‘stepping-stone’ towards this status.

The duration of this course is 2 years.

How will this course be delivered?

You will study at the Langley campus of The Windsor Forest Colleges Group all day Wednesday 9.00am – 5.30pm. This Foundation Degree is validated by the University of West London.

How will I be assessed?

Your work will be assessed through presentations, reports, essays and a reflective essay, projects, a project diary, a portfolio and one online test.

What qualification will I get?

Level 5 UOWL Foundation Degree in Working with Children and Young People – East Berkshire College

Where can this course lead?

Examples of progression pathways can lead to Early Years Professional or Qualified Teacher Status; Applying for access to starting a career in social services; applying for a career with the local authority, or a career in the wider services related to working with children and young people.
