College steps back in time to find former students

As part of the £16 million improvement project at its Langley College, East Berkshire College is looking to reunite students and staff who attended Langley College in the late 1970's, when it first opened.

The College is appealing to anyone who studied or worked at Langley College in Station Road at this time to get in touch and share their own memories and photos of the College.

"As well as planning for the future with our investment in Langley College, we have also been exploring our history," explains Principal Kate Webb. "We are extremely proud of the achievements of our alumni and we would love to hear from those who studied with us here in the late 1970s, especially the class of 1976-77. We are keen to invite these former students back to see our new facilities, which are due to be unveiled later this year, and hear their memories of college life."

East Berkshire College's Langley College building has been at the heart of the community since 1976. Purposely built for the College, the Langley College first opened for the 1976-77 academic year and originally housed just four departments: Engineering, Applied Sciences, General Education and Business Studies.

Today, Langley College is the centre for an extensive range of courses designed to prepare the local community for employment, which all have specialist facilities. These include Technology, Engineering, Construction, Motor Vehicle, Health & Social Care and Public Services along with excellent provision in Maths, English and Languages.

East Berkshire College's Langley Campus is currently undergoing a £16m makeover to provide new state-of-the-art learning facilities, including a new Hospitality & Catering Academy and multi-purpose Sports Centre, to meet the community's current and future learning needs.
