East Berkshire College students and staff are celebrating another year of excellent A Level results, as final grades were revealed today (18th August 2011) after weeks of nervous anticipation.

Continuing to set high standards, the College's full A Level pass rate was an outstanding 98%, ahead of the national average of 97.8%. The College also celebrated 100% pass rate in 17 subjects including photography, English literature and physics. In fact, 96% of photography students achieved A*- B grades.

The College's Windsor Campus was packed with nervous students waiting to open those all-important envelopes. Anxiety soon turned to smiles as they found out their marks.

One of the most outstanding students was Ellen Barnet (25), who achieved three As in chemistry, maths and biology.

"I've been so worried about whether I'd get my grades, but I'm absolutely thrilled with my results. The College has been so supportive in helping me juggle study with working part-time. I've always wanted to go into the medical field and now I'm looking forward to studying pharmacology at Liverpool University."

Rizwan Ullah (18, from Taplow) was elated with his results too. Having achieved an A* in maths, an A in economics and an A in psychology, he has now secured his place at Royal Holloway University.

"I'm so pleased. My final grades are even better than I expected. I've really enjoyed my time at College and my results mean I can now take up my place at university to study a degree in maths and computer science."

Having achieved their grades, many of the College leavers will now be going on to good universities and exciting employment opportunities.

Peter Mills, Director of Curriculum at the College, said: "Our students have done themselves proud. It is great to see so many young people fulfilling their potential. It is a huge credit not only to the students, but also their teachers. We wish all our students the very best of luck in their chosen university courses or career paths."

"With a growing reputation for excellence, we have seen continued demand for our A Level courses. So much so, we are currently expanding our campus in Windsor to meet the needs of the communities we serve."

In recent years, East Berkshire College has continued to go from strength to strength in terms of raising standards. With outstanding A Level results for the past three years and a growing reputation for excellence, the College has seen increasing demand for its A Level courses.

In May 2009, Ofsted judged the College to be consistently good overall, with outstanding social and educational inclusion, and financial planning.

The College offers a wide range of subjects at A Level (AS and A2) including Media Studies, Spanish, Politics, English Literature, Biology, History and Photography.
