Meeting the demand for Higher Education

Higher education press web

In response to the demand for higher level skills, the College has further expanded its range of Higher Education courses and celebrated an impressive 95% pass rate last year.

With a year on year increase in students taking HE qualifications (Foundation Degree, HND or HNC), the College has continued to expand its range to meet demand. This has included the introduction of a new HNC in Business Management & Entrepreneurship and an HNC in Computing & Systems Development.

For those who are returning to education after a long break or don't have the relevant qualifications to start a higher qualification right away, the College has also introduced a range of Access to HE courses in nursing, computing, business and art and design. These courses help individuals prepare for studying at a higher level and provide a stepping stone on to Higher Education (Level 4) programmes such as a degree.

Over the last 10 years, the College has been successfully delivering foundation degrees in various subjects from computing to construction and has further developed its own HE provision through Edexcel HNC/HND qualifications including higher level apprenticeships in engineering, computing, construction, business and applied science.

Relating closely to the work environment, our higher education courses enable the individual to study while in employment and put theory into practice. Plus, all foundation degrees offer progression to a full honours degree with further part-time study. In fact, a high proportion of merits and distinctions were achieved across education programmes with almost 80% of learners progressing on to a full honours degree (Level 6) in 2012-13.

Dedicated to providing students with the highest quality education, the college has established strong working relationships with employers and higher education institutions (HEIs) such as Bucks New University, London South Bank University and University of West London.
