Windsor College, which is part of East Berkshire College, showcased its impressive facilities in St Leonards Road to prospective students and their families on Monday (4th February).

Over 260 visitors attended the Open Day, enjoying guided tours of the campus and watching classes in action. Current students and staff were also on hand to answer questions on the College's extensive range of over 800 courses including apprenticeships.

From performing arts to forensic science, there was an array of displays and demonstrations throughout the event. Highlights of the evening included an exciting exhibition of work by retail and merchandising display students. Meanwhile, media students were at work in the state-of-the-art media suite, which includes a well-equipped recording booth and new internet radio studio complete with Sonifex mixing desk. The College mascot, Red, even put in an appearance to welcome visitors.

Wilma Nemharn and Levona Gumbs were two prospective students who applied for courses at the event.

"I was keen to come along to the Open Day to find out about the College's science courses," said Levona. "I've always been interested in Forensic Science and I was really impressed with the science labs at the College. The classrooms are very modern and everyone is really friendly. It was good to be able to talk to current students about the courses as well as the teachers."

Continuing to set high standards, the College's full A Level pass rate was an outstanding 99% in 2012, ahead of the national average of 98%. The College also celebrated 100% pass rate in 20 subjects including Business, Psychology, Sociology, Law and English. IMG 1174_web
