This course will equip you with the knowledge required to understand the complexities surrounding children and the young person’s mental health conditions. You will learn about legislation and the guidance surrounding mental health, risk factors affecting mental well-being and impact of this on the young person’s mental health concerns.
This is a fully online course and therefore internet access and a suitable device is required.

o Aged 19 or over as of 31/8/23
o If aged between 19 and 23 years old as of 31/08/23, you must have already achieved a Full Level 2 Qualification.
o Living in England (either in London or an ESFA non-devolved area)
o Lived in the UK or EU/EEA for the last 3 years
o Not completed any part of the course before
o Not currently enrolled on any government funded course with another institution (anyone enrolled on an Apprenticeship at the college must not attempt to study these courses during their normal working hours)
This course consists of the following 5 units:
1. Understand children and young people’s mental health in context
2. Understand factors which may affect children and young people’s mental health
3. Understand children and young people’s mental health concerns
4. Understand the impact of children and young people’s mental health concerns
5. Understand how to support children and young people with mental health concerns
On average the course takes 8-12 weeks to complete depending on the time you can dedicate to it. If at any point you feel you may have any difficulties working to the suggested time frames, please liaise with your coach/tutor to discuss suitable adjustments. The maximum time allowed will be 16 weeks from the date you are first enrolled.
This remote online learning course allows you to study around your commitments, studying on the go or in your own home and at a time that suits you. You will have the freedom to revisit areas of the course as little or as much as you like using online learning materials that you can study at your own pace within an overall time frame of 16 weeks. Support is available from qualified tutors.
The course consists of online assessments. In order to keep your learning on track you will receive automated reminders for submissions, please liaise with you coach/tutor should you have any questions about completing in a timely fashion.
