Course information

The course is made up of 4 mandatory units

1. Using Counselling Skills
2. Introduction to Counselling Skills Theories
3. Diversity and Ethics in the Use of Counselling Skills
4. Counselling Skills and Personal Development

33 Weeks


There will be group sessions held each week for 33 weeks, split over 3 College terms. The sessions will include a range of activities including: presentation and discussion of theory; self-awareness & development; acquisition of listening and counselling.

Throughout the year you will be required to complete a range of written assignments outside of the classroom. Together these assignments and work generated in the group sessions will make up the portfolio of evidence on which you will be assessed. You will also complete a weekly journal which must be submitted to your tutor each week for marking. This will also from part of the portfolio.
