Course Overview

The course centres around the study of acting as a performer. You will learn a range of acting skills and techniques and gain a deeper understanding of practitioners and theatre companies in theory and in practice. You will gain an understanding of the industry and how to access employment by developing a range of skills and attributes.

This course is enhanced by trips, visits and workshops, as well as learning about career progression opportunities in the performing arts industry.

Course information

You will learn to be a well-rounded and versatile actor in a vocational and academic context through the study and performance of Contemporary and Classical Theatre. You will document your learning through written log books and detailed research projects. You will perform one large ensemble piece in year 1 plus several workshop performances. You will experience Screen Acting in Year 2 and your final devised piece is performed for the exam board at the end of this year.

During your two years of study you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers, visit careers’ fairs and attend workshops, trips and visits.
