Course Overview

The aim of this course is to learn more about cooking healthy meals that don’t cost too much and to encourage students to try new foods. Students will improve personal, social, and employability skills by learning how to cook a variety of different foods from around the world and work out how much they cost.

Course information

Each week students will cook two courses, either a starter and a main course or a main course and a dessert. They will then sit and eat these together with the group helping to encourage their interpersonal and communication skills.

36 weeks from September to July

Students will be guided through different tasks each week, working independently and in groups to achieve a greater understanding.

Students will learn this through experiencing a variety of media and discussing with the class what they thought.

Each week students will complete a factsheet, aiming to learn 10 facts. Each half term will focus on a different continent of the world so over the year they will learn about countries from every continent. To learn about each country and their culture students will explore through video, multimedia and discussion,

Students will all follow a Learning Criteria delivered over the year, assessments will be through tutor lead practical, classroom based activities and observations in class.

All of our courses are aimed to support students develop their employability skills and life skills. Where courses are set a different levels you may which to progress onto the higher level the following year.
