Course Overview

Whether you’re a complete beginner or want to take a hobby or passion to another level and enjoy floral decorations, then this course could be for you. It aims to inspire and help you to develop traditional techniques and practical design skills involved with floral arranging. Our fully qualified tutor teaches the Lantra Floristry apprenticeship course at our BCA campus. She holds City and Guilds 2 & 3 from Southwark College, London and has over 30 years industry history, having been a tutor and demonstrator with the Jane Packer Flowers School at various global locations, and has also been a floral product developer for M&S, Bloom and Wild, Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s.

Course information

Students will be guided with step-by-step demonstrations, followed by the practical part of the session to create their own designs with their chosen materials and mechanics. At the end of the session, students will be advised regarding the designs, and the materials, containers and mechanics, that will be required for the following week. The programme is structured to meet the student’s need to be able to create a great variety of flower arrangements including traditional, contemporary, European, table-scaping and free-styles, including eco-friendly, sustainable floristry techniques and mechanics. The floral materials used are seasonal and fresh.

Two hours per week – 10 weeks Sep and Jan, 8 weeks Apr

Classbased

Friendly environment alongside like-minded people, predominantly hands-on learning, with time will be allocated for students to discuss and evaluate their work with their peers and the tutor.

Entry Level NONE Non regulated SFA formula funded provision, Entry Level, Crafts, Creative Arts and Design, 13 to 20 hrs, PW C

The students can use the skills they have learnt in home decorations or as a stepping stone for more advanced vocational training.
