“Apprentices benefit from highly individualised learning programmes.” Ofsted, 2019
What is an Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship provides you with the opportunity to earn while you learn, while also working towards a nationally-recognised qualification.
You will be employed by an employer, providing you with the opportunity to put into practice what you are being taught at college. This will help you succeed in your job and develop your career. You will have a mentor to support you at work and an assessor from the college who will guide you towards completing your qualification.
An apprenticeship can take between one to five years to complete depending on the level. There is no upper age limit – as long as you are over 16 and have the right credentials, you will be eligible for your chosen apprenticeship.
We provide a wide range of apprenticeships in the following areas:
- Business, Accounting and Customer Service
- Computing and IT
- Construction
- Engineering
- Hair and Beauty
- Motor Vehicle
We have excellent contacts with employers, so can help you find an apprenticeship job to suit your career goals, no matter what industry you wish to work in.

For Current Apprentices - Covid-19 Update
All apprentices will have received full information from their tutors and assessors about their remote learning plans, which will now take the place of college classes. You will be supported by your assessors and tutors through a combination of on-line lessons, remote contact, the setting of written work and email or phone communication.
Your employer will also support you by providing off the job activities or training. For example, they may require you to do some additional training, research or online courses to upskill your existing role.
All of our apprentices have their portfolio to work on which includes evidence gathering, general revision or projects to work on. Your assessors are on hand to support you. Assessors will also be setting up regular remote assessment meetings with you to ensure you are progressing and are being fully supported.
You should all have access to resources for your Apprenticeship programme and Functional Skills (if applicable) on Moodle. Please our helpful guide to accessing Moodle. If you have trouble then please let your assessor know immediately.
