WINDSOR FOREST COLLEGES GROUP EMBRACING AI TO ENHANCE TEACHING AND LEARNING

News overview

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming education, and across the further education sector colleges are exploring how it can support both teachers and learners.

At the Windsor Forest Colleges Group, staff are already using AI in thoughtful and practical ways to enhance learning while maintaining the essential role of professional teaching expertise.

AI tools are increasingly being used by teachers to support lesson planning, create engaging resources and adapt learning materials for different students. Lecturers are experimenting with tools such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Claude (AI assistant) to support creativity and efficiency in the classroom.

For example, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) lecturer Juliana Valadares Saili uses AI to quickly develop teaching ideas and activities inspired by real-world topics.

“If I hear something on the radio on the way to work that I want to incorporate into my lessons, AI can help me turn that into a teaching activity quickly and easily,” she explains. “The more I use it, the more it helps me design lessons that reflect my teaching style.”

Rather than replacing traditional teaching resources, AI acts as an additional tool that helps lecturers tailor learning activities and respond quickly to student needs.

Juliana spoke to Intuition magazine as part of a wider sector debate on AI in Further Education. Subscribe to the magazine to read the full article.
