It is strongly recommended that any psychological difficulties are appropriately managed before starting the course, as the programme is not intended to provide therapy or resolve personal issues. Applicants will also be required to attend an interview and complete a skills practice assessment.
Applicants will be required to complete an additional application form, which will be sent by email after the initial application has been submitted. Following approval, candidates will be invited to take part in a formal assessment process, including an interview and a counselling skills practice assessment.

Course information
Learners will complete this qualification with a comprehensive and full understanding of how to identify, practise and develop a range of counselling skills, and further develop their understanding of the main theoretical approaches to counselling. Learners will also gain a deeper understanding of self.
There are four mandatory units of study:
– Understanding the Context for the use of Counselling Skills
– Understanding Counselling Theory
– Using Counselling Skills
– Personal Development for Users of Counselling Skills
The course is delivered one evening each week over a 36-week period
Classroom based, at our Windsor College campus
Classes will involve a variety of activities, including the presentation and discussion of theory, self-awareness and personal development work, and the development and practice of listening and counselling skills.
There will be written assignments and case studies to complete which will form the portfolio of evidence used for assessment. Learners will also take part in an assessed practical counselling session and are encouraged to maintain a weekly journal to support their personal development.

On successful completion, and if you wish to take your counselling journey further, then this course is a pre-requisite for entry onto the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
