You have the opportunity to study local an dnational attractions as well as looking into factors impacting destinations and marketing techinques used by organisations. There are links between the course content of this course and that of BTEC L3 Business.

Requires four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths and may include a BTEC at a merit or above

Course information

You will learn about the world of travel and tourism, global destinations, the principles of marketing in travel and tourism and either visitor attractions or event management.

2 Years

In class, face to face with some practical activity, individual and group work.

You will be assessed through external and internal assessment. 60% of the course will be assessed externally.

You will cover the operational and practical elements of working for a travel and tourism organisation, by incorporating tasks such as designing your own tailor made itinerary, business planning and finance, demonstrating that you can produce a promotional marketing campaign; investigate consumer trends and the reasons the popularity of global destinations may change and develop and review a proposal for a local, national or international event.

Level 3 EDEXCEL BTEC National Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism

During your two years of study you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers and attend master classes, workshops, trips and conferences.

University, career or an apprenticeship

Level 3

You will be required to undertake independent research to enhance your coursework and to complete tasks outside of the classroom.
