Course Overview

By choosing this programme you will have the opportunity to study a wide range of latest IT technologies to prepare you for further study or a career in IT. This qualification will allow you to acquire skills and knowledge valued by employers in any career you wish to choose.

Mandatory units are designed to cover the body of content that employers and educators within the sector consider essential. These include:-
• The online world
• Technology systems

The remaining units are sector-specific, specialist units and may include animation, graphics, computer networks and website design.

Course information

Units could include:

1 – The Online world
2 – Technology Systems
3 – Digital Portfolio
6 – Digital Graphics
10 – Databases
11 – Computer Networks
12 – Software Development
13 – Website Development

This course is delivered over 3 days a week combining examinations and coursework assessment throughout the year.

Some lessons are practical based in our IT Lab, others are lecture driven with note taking. Most classes will take place in a Computer Room.

You will be assessed by a combination of external examination and on-going external and internal assessments.

Level 2 EDEXCEL BTEC First Extended Certificate in Information and Creative Technology

There are two weeks of Industry Placement where you will have the oppotunity to apply your skills in a professioanl context.

You will also learn from Visiting Speakers and worskhops.

Employment in entry-level IT positions or study at Level 3.
