Course Overview

This course covers all aspects of basic hairdressing. Whatever the economic climate, the hair, beauty and complementary beauty industry continues to expand steadily worldwide. Opportunities to pursue a challenging and worthwhile career in a variety of situations await anyone with the necessary artistic flair, caring personality, enthusiasm and capability for hard work.

Work experience in a salon of your choice and functional skills will be included in your programme.

Course information

There are eight mandatory units:
– working with in the hair industry
– health and safety
– client consultation
– shampoo and condition the hair & scalp
– promote products and services
– cut women’s hair
– colour and lighten hair
– the art of dressing hair

1 Year

A combination of Tutor led demonstrations, student participation & practice, theory delivery and commercial salon that will led on to formative & summative assessments.

Practical assessment takes place in the commercial salons and theory is assessed using online exams.

Level 2 CG Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing

Learners are enrolled onto an additional ‘College Commercial Salon Certificate’ which reflects 8 weeks of Commercial Salon experience. This is completed within the College Salons under Tutor guidance. This provides a simulation of a real Salon environment & provides experience with clients to help build confidence within the chosen pathway.

Level 3 Hairdressing, apprenticeship or a career in hairdressing. Level 2 Hairdressing could lead to employment in a variety of customer service related industries.

A Kit & Unifrom must be purchased within 6 weeks of enrolling for the course. Details of the Kit & Uniform are handed out during the enrollment process. Bursaries are available for those who are eligible – subject to individual assessment.
