Course Overview

This is a one-year course that will develop the skills that you need for a career as a Hairdresser or Beauty Therapist.
As well as teaching you essential and artistic hair and beauty techniques, the Level 1 Diploma will also develop your practical skills to prepare you for salon life.
You will learn everything from shampooing and conditioning, skincare, manicures and pedicures, and plaiting and twisting, right through to communication, team work, and how to provide excellent customer service.

1 Year

A combination of Tutor led demonstrations, student participation & practice, theory delivery and commercial salon that will led on to formative & summative assessments.

You will be assessed by a combination of practical assessments (performing treatments and techniques on clients) and course work.

Level 1 CG Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector

Learners are enrolled onto an additional ‘College Commercial Salon’ completed within the College Salons under Tutor guidance. This provides a simulation of a real Salon environment & provides experience with clients to help build confidence within the chosen pathway.

This course could lead to employment as a salon assistant or a similar junior salon role.

Level 1

A Kit & Unifrom must be purchased within 6 weeks of enrolling for the course. Details of the Kit & Uniform are handed out during the enrollment process. Bursaries are available for those who are eligible – subject to individual assessment.
