For undergraduate programmes we will take into account subjects studied at Level 3, your GCSEs (or equivalent) profile, relevant non-academic achievements outlined in your personal statement, references, and your motivation for study.
GCSEs
Applicants must have GCSE Grade 4/C in English and Maths. We offer an opportunity to improve your GCSE grades if needed.
Any candidate who does not fully meet the entry criteria (for example, who does not have Maths GCSE) is invited to submit their application, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Course information
This course in Education Studies which is validated by St Mary’s University, Twickenham, is the beginning of your career to work with children in a range of settings. The programme will give you the skills and knowledge for a range of careers including, teaching, social work, education policy, welfare and working with children and families.
It is aimed at providing you with an alternative route to undergraduate study if you do not have the grades to access higher education in the traditional way, attending Windsor College for two days a week.
On successful completion of Foundation Year in Education, students will be offered the opportunity to progress to either BA (Hons) Education Studies or BA (Hons) Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) at St Mary’s.
Your assignments and lessons are all designed to benefit your professional development. You willl build upon your experience through modules in areas such as ‘How Children Learn’ and ‘Introduction to Working together in Children’s and Education Services’. Teaching includes lectures, seminars, workshops and tutorials.
Academic and pastoral support is available to help you get the most from your course and you will be given an academic tutor who will have regular one-to-one meetings with you. Additionally, you will benefit from small learning groups and access to facilities and support at Windsor College and St Mary’s University Twickenham.

On successful completion of the Foundation Year here in Windsor, you will have a priority place on the BA(Hons) in Education Studies at St Mary’s University Twickenham, enabling you to start your career in Education. In this, you will be using real-world case studies that are relevant to education, and explore the value and purpose of education addressing key issues such as social injustice and educational/social disadvantage.
This course aims to develop your reflective, academic and analytical skills and increase your self-confidence. It will equip you with a range of transferable skills that are highly valued by employers
