Course Overview

It is never too late to fill in any gaps left by your education. Our part-time English courses are a great opportunity to improve your reading, writing and speaking and listening skills in a friendly and supportive environment. All our courses are government funded up to L2 or GCSE grade 4.

We offer English courses at the following levels:
• GCSE
• Functional Skills Level 2
• Functional Skills Level 1
• Functional Skills Entry Level

Functional Skills classes run for 2 hours throughout the week in the daytime and on a Monday and Wednesday evening. You will study the Pearson specification at either Level 1 or Level 2 and take exams in speaking and listening, reading and writing. There is the opportunity to resit any component at certain times throughout the years.

GCSE English is 3 hours per week. You will study a fiction paper and a non-fiction paper under the AQA specification with exams in May and June. You will also complete a spoken language presentation.

Course information

Our courses run for up to 35 weeks over the college year.

You will work towards achieving a formal qualification. Your teacher will discuss how you be assessed.

Learners are encouraged to build their skills and knowledge so that they can get a job, promotion or access higher level courses.
