Course Overview

It is never too late to fill in any gaps left by your education. Our part-time English courses are a great opportunity to improve your reading, writing and speaking and listening skills in a friendly and supportive environment. All our courses are government funded up to L2 or GCSE grade 4.

We offer English courses at the following levels:
– GCSE
– Functional Skills Level 2
– Functional Skills Level 1
– Functional Skills Entry Level

In GCSE English you will study 19th Century fiction extract and imaginative writing as well as 20th and 21st Century non-fiction. You will also complete a spoken language endorsement presentation, which is assessed as an additional qualification. For GCSE English, we offer courses with a range of delivery modes such as face-to-face, and blended learning which is a combination of face-to-face and remote.

Functional Skills English courses will cover reading skills, writing skills, spelling and punctuation. There is an additional module for speaking and listening. Teaching will be delivered in the context of skills needed for everyday life and the workplace, such as letter writing and form filling.

You can also enrol for online Functional Skills English and study at your own speed from the comfort of your own home. This course is particularly suitable for those learners with other life commitments and 24-hour course access is guaranteed. There is online tutor support to support and guide you through your programme.
