The intent of this course is to give learners a gradual and meaningful introduction to the skills needed to care for the environment and wildlife. “The Great Outdoors” is thoughtfully crafted to be adaptable, ensuring that each session addresses the evolving needs and development of participants.

Course information

Learners on this course will be given the time, guidance, and practical experience to develop both their understanding of the environment, animals and the skills needed to care for them. Additionally, learners will develop transferable life and work skills, such as problem-solving, organisation, and resilience, which can be applied in a range of personal and professional settings.

36 weeks from September 2026 to June 2027

These topics will be taught using practical work together with classroom based learning.

Students will all follow a Learning Criteria delivered over the year, assessments will be through tutor lead practical classroom based activities and observations in class.

This is a non regulated funded provision and there is no formal qualification at the end of the course.

All of our courses are aimed to support students develop their employability skills and life skills. Where courses are set a different levels you may which to progress onto the higher level the following year.

You must be happy to spend time outside in all weathers.
