Politics is the course for you if you enjoy discussing topical issues currently in the news. You will learn to critically analyse and evaluate British, American and Ideological politics. There will be an emphasis on developing your writing, reading and independent research skills.

Course information
You will learn about the nature and sources of the British Constitution, the structure and role of Parliament, the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the judiciary, devolution and the European Union. You will also learn about the constitutional framework of US government, the US Congress, Senate and Supreme Court, democracy and participation, referendums, political parties, pressure groups and civil rights and you will study Liberalism, Conservatism, Socialism and other ideologies.
Year 2
At the end of this two year course you will sit three examinations that are all two hours long. You will be examined using a mixture of medium length and essay style exam questions.
