Topics and skills taught:
The standard office first aid course doesn’t cover the realities of a remote forestry or arb site. This specialized training bridges that gap, giving you the critical skills to manage life-threatening trauma when help is miles away.
• Catastrophic Bleeding & Trauma: Immediate management of severe, high-velocity wounds using tourniquets, pressure/haemostatic dressings, and packing techniques.
• Forestry-Specific Injuries: Recognising and treating crush injuries, suspension trauma (from prolonged harness hanging), and hypothermia in outdoor environments.
• Incident & Site Management: How to secure a remote scene, isolate hazards (like active machinery or hanging timber), and safely manage multiple casualties.
• Remote Communications & Evacuation: Formulating emergency plans, utilizing grid references/what3words, and preparing a casualty for off-grid rescue extraction.
• Core First Aid Foundations: Mastering the essentials, including CPR, using an AED (Defibrillator), managing shock, and treating burns, fractures, and unresponsiveness
