Course Overview

Apprenticeship standards are employer-led, meaning that employers can specify exactly what’s required from an apprentice in each specific role. They outline the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to carry out your job role which are delivered and carried out both in the workplace, through teaching & learning and independent learning.

All the skills, knowledge and behaviours must be met in full for you to achieve your Apprenticeship.

This standard involves an additional qualification where you will achieve the Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (Installation) or (Maintenance).

Employers within the Electrotechnical industry have designed the approved apprenticeship specifically for apprentices working in this trade.Role Profile –
Your job role will involve working in line practices and legislation applying to electrical systems, installation of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment in buildings, how to diagnose and correct electrical faults, planning and maintenance of electrical systems, health and safety, environmental and wiring regulations for electricians.

42- 48 Months dependant on relevant experience on entry

This course is delivered onsite every week on Thursdays, giving learners the chance to study in a structured classroom environment with consistent and immediate hands-on tutor guidance. These frequent face-to-face sessions provide crucial opportunities for deep discussion, rapid feedback on practical activities, and regular peer collaboration. Between sessions, learners can reinforce their weekly learning and prepare for the next class independently using our comprehensive online resources, ensuring continuous momentum and high levels of engagement throughout the course.

Work-based training with employer on site.

Assessment overview

Skills, knowledge and behaviours are assessed by competencies being displayed in the workplace, observations, employer feedback, assessor progress reviews, evidence collating and the employer enabling you to fulfil the requirements of your Apprenticeship.

On programme assessment will include various coaching and mentoring assessment methods. These assessments are deigned to review the behaviours, knowledge and skills against set gateway criteria. In addition you, your employer and the college are required to maintain an off the job training log evidencing new skills and knowledge being learnt over the duration of the apprenticeship.

The final grading of the apprenticeship will be carried out through an End Point Assessment, by an independent assessor

By the end of the apprenticeship the candidate will have satisfied the requirements for registration as Eng Tech by the Engineering Council.
