Course Overview

The MET1 ACS Course is designed for qualified gas engineers who wish to gain or renew certification to install, commission, exchange, test, and remove domestic gas meters. The course ensures engineers can safely carry out gas metering work in accordance with current UK gas safety legislation and ACS standards. This course is suitable for qualified gas engineers who:

· Hold an existing CCN1 and CENWAT ACS qualification

· Engineers adding MET1 to their existing ACS qualifications.

This course is taught at the Slough & Langley College campus in Langley, Berkshire, with access to industry-standard facilities and industry-experienced tutors.

· Hold an existing ACS CCN1 qualification

Course information

During this course you will develop the knowledge and practical skills required to safely work on domestic gas metering systems, including:

· Current gas safety legislation and industry standards

· Installation and commissioning of domestic gas meters

· Meter exchange and removal procedures

· Tightness testing and soundness testing

· Regulator checks and adjustments

· Pipework installation and inspection

· Emergency control valves and isolation procedures

· Gas safety notices and warning labels

· Identification and classification of unsafe situations

· Re-establishing gas supplies and relighting appliances safely
