Course Overview

This 3-hour beginner workshop is designed to help learners build a strong foundation in Microsoft Word and Google Docs. It uses clear demonstrations, hands-on practice, and simple, practical tasks to help participants develop confidence with essential word-processing skills.

Participants will learn how to create, edit, format, save, organise, and share documents, providing a solid foundation for everyday personal, academic, and workplace tasks.

This course is taught at the Slough & Langley College campus in Langley, Berkshire, with access to industry-standard facilities and industry-experienced tutors.

Content Summary:
● Introduction to word processing and navigating the interface

● Typing and editing text

● Formatting text (fonts, alignment, bold, underline, bullet points and numbered lists)

● Saving documents, creating folders, and printing

● Using spellcheck and understanding basic page layout

● Practical task: Create and format a short document.
The tutor will tailor the session to meet individual learner needs, focusing on the key word processing skills they want to develop and how they intend to use them in everyday life.

3 Hours

The course will be delivered face-to-face in a computer room at the college.

No written exams – just practical, supportive learning

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a college certificate.

Once you have completed this workshop, you will be ready to progress to an intermediate or advanced MS Word course, or another IT workshop from our programme.
