This is the perfect sewing course for you if already have sewing experience and have made a few of your own simple garments and would like support and guidance to progress your skills on to more challenging clothes making project!
As a group you will all follow an intermediate level appropriate tutor selected pattern, which can be able to be altered to fit personal design preferences and match custom measurements.
Over the duration of the course, you will get to experience introductory pattern altering/cutting, fabric preparation, understanding pattern layout on fabric, following the grain, garment assembly/order of construction and professional finishing techniques all of which will culminate in the making of your final garment.
Learners are expected to be already confident using a sewing machine. There will be training provided to use the overlocker during the course.
The course includes:
• A recap of understanding the core measurements, choosing a size that match custom measurements.
• Following and understanding pattern instructions.
• Size blending techniques: understanding whether you can work with the garment ease or require a further adaption through pattern cutting.
• Mini workshops on staple sewing tasks (e.g. darts, buttonholes, sleeve setting).
• Selecting appropriate fabrics for the pattern with tutor guidance when working with the fabric/s of your choice.
• Using high quality sewing & finishing processes on the final garment.
