NCFE CACHE Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry for the Early Years Workforce

Learners must be working or volunteering with children under five years of age.

The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to become early years educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to five years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. Upon achievement of this qualification, it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as early years educators and be included in staff to child ratios.

Course information

Introduction to the role of the early year’s educator, Holistic child development, Children with special educational needs and disabilities, Effective communication in an early year’s setting, Safeguarding and welfare requirements, Health, wellbeing and safety, promoting an effective early year’s curriculum, assessment of children’s learning and development, understanding play for learning and holistic development and partnership working.

18 Months

Attend college one day a week and one day a week mandatory placement in a nursery setting.

There are 10 mandatory units in this qualification, and it will be internally assessed using a range of methods, which will include practical observation, professional discussion, written assignments, or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet.

Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry for the Early Years Workforce

Developing skills in child development, safety, communication, activity planning, you will gain practical skills in managing children’s well-being, emotional growth, and learning through play.

Upon achievement of this qualification, it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. Learners can progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary, or private sectors such as practitioner in day nurseries, practitioner in nursery schools, practitioners in reception classes in primary schools, pre-school worker and home-based child carer.
