Each month, we will be celebrating the employers who support our apprenticeship programmes. In this article, we will be highlighting a standout organisation that demonstrates exceptional commitment to training, mentoring, and providing real-world opportunities for our students.
This month we spoke to the team at Bury St Edmunds Golf Club.
How has having an apprentice improved your team?
Having apprentices in the team has been a huge positive – we have been able to train staff from the ground up to our specific criteria/standards. All the apprentices that we have taken on have come in with a really good attitude and are keen to learn.
In your opinion, what do you think makes a successful apprentice?
Someone who is willing to listen, take in information and be open to advice/training. A positive attitude and a strong interest in the job are key.
What do you think of Lawrence, the skills coach who works with you and your apprentice?
Lawrence is fantastic with all the apprentices. He is a good communicator and will explain everything to them in a clear way. His experience in the industry means he really understands the course and what is being taught.
What are the benefits of doing an apprenticeship with Bury St Edmunds Golf Club?
Doing an apprenticeship here at Bury St Edmunds will give staff a very thorough training of the job. High standards are expected, which produces highly skilled employees with a broad skill-base. We like to think we create a very positive work environment for all our staff and where employees are encouraged to reach their potential.
