Students enjoyed a dynamic and inspiring week packed with employer engagement, real-world insights, and hands-on experiences across the aviation, hospitality, media, and tourism sectors.
Monday kicked off with Becky Wadsworth from British Airways, who gave students an engaging insight into life as cabin crew. Becky shared her personal journey in aviation, offering an honest look at the realities, rewards, and progression opportunities within the industry. As a part-time lecturer at Slough & Langley College, she brought a relatable and educational perspective that students found particularly valuable.
On Tuesday, learning moved beyond the classroom. Level 2 Diploma students visited Windsor Castle, gaining first-hand experience of one of the UK’s most iconic visitor attractions. Meanwhile, Level 2 second-year students took part in an interactive workshop at the Heathrow Employment and Skills Academy, developing their employability knowledge. The day also saw Level 3 first-year students welcome Chloe Jay, a Ground Operations Trainer and Travel Career Coach, who shared expert advice on building a successful career in ground operations at an airport.
Wednesday delivered creativity and inspiration as BCD Media & Entertainment hosted an interactive session for Level 2 and Level 3 students, exploring opportunities within the media and entertainment sector. Later, students were delighted to welcome Kevin McIlmurray, Resort Operations and Experience Director at LEGOLAND® Windsor, who spoke about guest experience, leadership, and career pathways within large-scale attractions.
The focus on employability continued on Thursday with mock interviews delivered by the Heathrow Employment and Skills Academy for Level 3 second-year students, giving them invaluable practice and confidence ahead of future applications. Students also benefited from careers talks from Nicola Smith, Senior Marketing Manager at London Heathrow, and Anna and Jamie from De Vere Beaumont Estate, gaining insight into hospitality, marketing, and airport operations.
The week concluded on Friday with Tanya James from the Heathrow Security Team. Tanya delivered an informative presentation to Level 2 Diploma and Level 2 students, highlighting career routes, responsibilities, and the importance of security within the aviation industry.

Overall, the week provided students with exceptional exposure to employers, practical career advice, and real-world experiences – helping them build confidence, broaden aspirations, and take meaningful steps towards their future careers.
