The NCFE CACHE Level 2 Extended Diploma for Technical Occupational Entry for Early Years Practitioner has been designed to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years, with applied knowledge in the early years (birth to 5 years).
It also provides introductory sector knowledge of professional practice to support wider contextual understanding of the early years practitioner route and optional units that provide learners with transferable employability skills.

This is a full-time study programme, and you will be required to attend college during the week and attend a practical placement for the duration of the course, and this will be in an early year setting to show competence in both skills and knowledge.

It covers a wide range of areas including the Roles and responsibilities of the Early years practitioner, Health and safety of babies and young children in the early years, Equality, diversity and inclusive practice in early years settings, Safeguarding, protection and welfare of babies and young children in early years settings, Understand how to support children’s development, Support care routines for babies and young children, Support the planning and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes, Promote play in an early years setting, Support wellbeing of babies and young children for healthy lifestyles, Support babies and young children to be physically active, Support the needs of babies and young children with special educational needs and disability, Promote positive behaviour in early years settings, Partnership working in the early years, Support the needs of the child in preparing for school.

This is a full-time study programme with one day placement in a nursery setting
There are 14 mandatory units in this qualification and a selection of optional units based on credits, these will be internally assessed using a range of methods, which could include direct observation within the workplace, professional discussion, written assignments, or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams.
