Statement on the 16-19 Tuition Fund

At the Windsor Forest Colleges Group our mission is to inspire ambition and make a positive difference to lives through learning.

The 16-19 Tuition Fund is an allocation of funding for the academic year 2021-22 designed to ‘mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus (COVID 19).’ This year the fund supports students with low prior attainment and those who have been disadvantaged by the pandemic.

At each of our three colleges, the funds will be used to support small group tuition, primarily in English and Maths. We are prioritising support for students with prior low attainment in these core subjects and will use specialist staff to provide targeted, individualised support for identified students and small groups. The package of support will be differentiated depending on the needs of the student and may address general study skills as well as subject specific help.

Our aim across all three of our colleges is to help our students to overcome the exceptional barriers to their learning which have arisen from the recent pandemic and lockdowns: loss of motivation to learn, mental health and anxiety issues, loss of good study routines and subject specific support with literacy and numeracy.

Students will be offered support through tailored coaching interventions which will help them to set goals and overcome barriers to learning. Staff will work with students on developing effective resilience strategies alongside basic maths and English skills and will work closely with subject and pastoral staff.

Students will be strongly encouraged to access the programme and there will be careful monitoring of participation and contact with carers and parents as needed.

The College will work closely with learners to get feedback on the scheme to ensure support is helpful and relevant to student needs to give maximum benefit and impact.
