Update on Returning to College

Following government guidance please note, there is no return to face to face teaching for our students before the summer holiday. Please continue with your on-line and set work as directed by your teacher. Please do not come to college unless you are specifically invited.

Current Students

Remote Learning

You should now be well underway with your remote learning workplan as directed by your tutors. We are committed to ensuring you complete your programme of study as fully as possible. Our teachers are being very creative and finding new ways of undertaking remote learning and assessments both for academic and practical programmes.

We have produced a handy guide to working and learning from home including links to important resources. Take a look and make sure you have all the tools you need to continue to focus on your studies.

Information about Exams

Latest update (3 April 2020) - please read the latest government information on how GCSEs, AS and A Levels will be awarded in the summer 2020. Read Here

We understand how hard you have worked towards this important milestone in your lives and how you may be concerned about what the cancellation of exams will mean for your next steps to university or employment. We will provide more detail about what the latest guidance will mean to you after the Easter break.

For vocational courses (BTECs etc.) we will be working with the awarding bodies to understand the implications for our courses. We will advise students as soon as we know more.

We are therefore urging all students to fully engage with online learning and to continue to produce work of their best ability when submitting for assessment – this will all go towards your final grade.

For those applying to universities, the Universities Minister, Michelle Donelan has said:

“We want to assure students that grades will be equally as valid as those in previous years, and their hard work will be rewarded and fairly recognised. There is no reason for the usual admissions cycle to be disrupted.”

We hope this helps to reassure you that your future plans should not be adversely affected by the changes to exams this year.

Financial Support

All students who are currently eligible for financial support from the college, will continue to receive this during this period.

Adult Leisure and Part-time Courses

All adult part-time learning courses are taking place remotely. Students will be given relevant information by their tutors. All current leisure courses, that are still to finish, will have additional sessions offered to students when the College reopens. Further information will be sent to students.

Current Apprentices

You should have received full information from your tutors and assessors about your remote learning plans, which will now take the place of your college classes. You will be supported by your assessors and tutors through a combination of on-line lessons, remote contact, the setting of written work and email or phone communication.

Your employer will also support you by providing off the job activities or training. For example, they may require you to do some additional training, research or online courses to upskill your existing role.

All of our apprentices have their portfolio to work on which includes evidence gathering, general revision or projects to work on. Your assessors are on hand to support you.

Assessors will also be setting up regular remote assessment meetings with you to ensure you are progressing and are being fully supported.

You should all have access to resources for your Apprenticeship programme and Functional Skills (if applicable) on Moodle. If you have trouble accessing Moodle then please let your assessor know immediately.

Please also see our useful guide to getting online which gives step by step instructions on how to access all your online tools.

Parents, Carers and Advisers

We hope the information contained in the sections above provides you with the information you need regarding your child's options - either on completing their course at the Windsor Forest Colleges Group, or joining us in September.

It's important to know that while our doors may be temporarily closed we are all still working hard to ensure we provide the support our current and prospective students need. We will be keeping these pages updated with latest news.

Employers

All apprentices are now being taught the college part of their programme remotely, which is proving to be successful. They will have been contacted by their assessor or one of our reviewers this week and they all have been set work to complete from home. However, if your apprentice is unsure then please ask them to contact their assessor or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. asap.

We have produced a guide to working at home which has been sent to all apprentices.

We are aware many companies are not operational following the announcement this week from the government regarding restrictions in trading and the rules for social distancing. We will however, continue to work with your apprentice to ensure their skills and knowledge continue to progress.
