Course Overview

This course opens up a range of career opportunities in the science industry, as well as entry on to both science and non-science degree courses. It is a nationally recognised qualification that is valued by both employers and admission officers in higher education. The course will appeal if you want an alternative to assessment through written exams as it is largely assignment based.

You will develop an understanding of scientific concepts such as analytical chemistry, cell biology, forensic techniques and medical physics, as well as understanding how the science industry works. The chemistry, maths and biology components of this course are comparable A Levels. You will also develop your lab skills through an extensive range of practical activities.

Course information

Largely coursework, (including practical work) that is often carried out under controlled conditions in class. Some of this is internally assessed by your teachers and some is externally moderated by the exam board. At present there are no compulsory examined units.
