What's covered?

This Extended Diploma in Performing Arts is an exciting course, which is designed to provide students with a realistic and demanding training programme in all areas of performance. This course gives you the skills and all-round experience to be an adaptable and multi-skilled performer as well as introducing you to a range of jobs within the performing arts industry. Drama classes aim to cover a wide range of theatrical styles and periods covering everything from Shakespeare to contemporary plays. Technique classes will develop your skills as performers through movement work (dance, physical theatre and stage combat) and vocal work (Voice and the Actor, Musical Theatre); and you will be given regular opportunities to demonstrate these skills in public performances at a professional theatre in Windsor (usually three large scale public performances per year). Most units have a written element which students will need to pass in order to gain that unit. You will learn about the Performing Arts Business, how to make a professional CV and receive careers advice and audition tips from industry professionals. You will take part in projects such as touring to local schools and writing, directing and producing your own work. Students will be guided into pathways of study which college staff feels the individual will excel at and, therefore, be best prepared for their chosen career in the very competitive world of Performing Arts. During each year, there are many opportunities to see live performance work given by other students and professional work in regional and national venues.
