What's covered?

This course is designed to give students the opportunity to study Media at an advanced level. The course focuses on analysing a range of print based and audio-visual media including advertising, magazines & newspapers, TV programmes and computer games. Students will also have the opportunity to create some print based and audio-visual products for coursework, which comprises a third of the final grade. Students will analyse how media language contributes to the representation of groups and issues in society and the impact this has on the audience.

What do you need?

Applicants need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above.

How you are assessed

Students will be assessed through exam at the end of the second year as well as coursework. .

How Long?

This is a 2-year A level.

What course next?

Students can progress to full and part-time programmes in Humanities or use the qualification towards entry to an HNC or degree level programme at university

What could this lead to?

University, or a career or apprenticeship in media industry.
