What's covered?

This is a workshop and study-based course which will teach you intermediate level joinery techniques allowing you to produce a range of wooden products such as windows, doors, fitted cupboards etc. which are produced in a workshop.

You will cover a range of modules including:

  • Health, safety and welfare
  • Understanding information, quantities and communication
  • Construction technology
  • Use of carpentry and power tools
  • Using cutting and shaping machinery
  • Marking out details for joinery products
  • Manufacturing joinery products

What do you need?

You will need to have good prior knowledge of wood occupations. This can be demonstrated by having at least five years' experience on site or a recognised qualification in site carpentry.

How you are assessed

The course consists of eight units assessed by practical demonstration and theory exams.
