What's covered?

If you are looking to change career or improve your prospects, our 12 week fast-track course in bricklaying will teach you the skills to become a bricklayer, giving you a good grounding in trowel skills. Most of the people who enrol on this course have no prior experience - we'll teach you everything you need to know to become a bricklayer and help you to achieve industry-recognised qualifications, preparing you for your new career. All our lecturers are qualified professionals with real industry experience. You will learn in our modern workshops and realistic work environments, which feature the latest industry equipment and resources. The course requires the completion of practical and theory tasks, unit end tests followed by an on-line exam and a practical phase test. You can progress on to the Diploma Level 3 course on completion, subject to certain criteria being met.

What do you need?

There are no formal entry qualifications although you will be required to take a College assessment. You will also require enthusiasm, motivation and a commitment to hard work, good time keeping and a desire to learn.

Practical in workshops and theory in classrooms. The course requires the completion of practical and theory tasks, unit end tests followed by an on-line exam and a practical phase test.

Five days a week for 12 weeks

What course next?

Diploma Level 3 in bricklaying or NVQ Diploma (if you find a suitable job).

What could this lead to?

Our Bricklaying Level 2 Diploma is accredited by C Skills and is recognised within the industry, so you can go straight into employment at an intermediate level, become self-employed, move on to an apprenticeship or progress on to the Level 3 Diploma to further increase your earning potential. The construction industry is growing fast and offers a vast range of employment opportunities for those with the right skills. There is currently great local demand for skilled bricklayers and the work varies from small extensions to large-scale developments. On average, a bricklayer in the UK can earn around £36,679 per year (Source: Totaljobs.com 2017).
