What's covered?

This is a full time course designed to develop skills useful for mature students who wish to progress to Higher Education at The Windsor Forest Colleges Group or a British university to study for a business related degree.

You'll study specialist business units including marketing, planning, strategy, operations, business environment, human resources, finance and IT to prepare you for university study. Tutorial sessions will focus on the development of study skills to give you everything you'll need to succeed at degree level. You'll cover many different approaches to learning including research, observation, written assessment, peer assessment and individual and small group presentations.

What do you need?

You will need to have English & maths at grade 4/C or above or FS L2. You may be asked to complete an initial diagnostic assessment. It may be possible to complete a Maths course alongside the Access course, following assessment. Very good IT skills are also required to complete and submit work.

How you are assessed

Work is assessed through presentations, reports and essays. You must be able to commit yourself to the course of study in a mature and efficient way. You have to organise your time efficiently, be highly motivated, astute and be able to invest at least 20 hours a week of self-study.

How Long?

The course is for one academic year and will be based on classroom study and there is an expectation of self-study that includes research.

What course next?

You can progress to Higher Education study in areas related to Business Studies. These may include some of the following areas of Degree level study: Business Studies, Marketing, Economics, Accountancy, Business Management, International Business, Law and Finance degrees.

What could this lead to?

A recognised Higher Education Qualification that will help with career development and future employment.
