Volunteering in the community is a fantastic way to complement your studies and your CV by helping you to gain an insight into the job or sector in which you want to work. It also shows a commitment to widening your experience and learning new skills that can impress future employers.

Windsor Forest Colleges Group (formerly East Berkshire College) works with local volunteering agencies to find you placements that suit your interests, skills and goals. Volunteering placements can be one-offs or a regular commitment, depending on the time you have and the needs of the organisation with which you are volunteering.

As well as being helpful to you, volunteering is usually about doing something that benefits others or the community. It is a rewarding way to meet new people and develop a range of essential skills from communication and teamwork to leadership and time management.

If you’re looking for a volunteering placement, drop into Student Services at one of our campuses or email us on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We will arrange to meet you to discuss what you want to do and to help you get volunteering. For an idea of what’s available in your area, you may also like to have a look at the opportunities on the Do-it website.

If volunteering is not quite your thing, why not think about arranging work experience within the sector in which you hope to work?
