• Support4

We provide various support methods to learners and work alongside your tutors to make sure that you are fully supported, successful and achieve your learning goals.

Learning Support can provide a variety of types of support depending on what is appropriate for your needs:

In Class

Some classes will have a Learning Coach in the classroom during teaching. They will have their own register which will identify who they will support, it may not be everyone in the class. The support they provide is:

  • Assist with literacy and numeracy content in your course
  • Re-explaining concepts taught by the tutor
  • Check you have understood tasks and instructions

Small Group or 1:1

We may provide support outside the classroom via:

  • Small groups - regular sessions with a few other learners who require similar content
  • One to Ones - one off or regular sessions provided to individuals

These may include topics such as:

  • Literacy
  • Numeracy
  • Use of assistive technology
  • Mentoring for learners with EHCPs

Use of specialist equipment such as speech to text software, tracker balls, high contrast keyboards and screen overlays are available.

Access Arrangements

If you have a specific need you may be entitled to Access Arrangements. You may need to undergo a screening assessment within our department to formally apply for your Access Arrangements to the awarding body for your course certificate.

Support for Students With Disabilities

You will also have regular 1-1s to review your progress and set targets to help you exceed your goals.

If you have any problems relating to your course, academic progress or need to talk to someone about concerns outside of College, please see your tutor who will support you and help you to access other services if necessary.
