What's covered?

This qualification will further develop learners, who have existing knowledge and skills in gym instruction, to enable them to pursue a career in personal training.

During the qualification you will cover the following:

  • Further knowledge of anatomy and physiology applicable to personal training
  • Lifestyle and medical factors that affect wellbeing
  • Effective communication skills for client consultations to encourage healthy lifestyle behaviours and strategies for change
  • Skills to plan and conduct physical activity sessions with different types of clients in a variety of environments with a range of resources
  • Legal and professional requirements for personal training
  • How to set up and manage a personal training business on a self-employed basis
  • How to manage, evaluate and improve own performance

What do you need?

You will need five GCSEs including Physical Education, English and Maths at a grade 4 or above.

All learning material is supplied by Active IQ. You should also have prior experience in the health and fitness industry and a Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification.

How you are assessed

You will be assessed by coursework, e-assessment, multiple choice examination, portfolio of evidence, practical demonstration/assignment.

On completion of the Diploma you could: Find employment within the sports industry i.e. Leisure Centres, Health and Fitness Industry, Sports Media and many other potentially exciting fields.
