What's covered?
All Apprenticeships consist of a Framework of different elements. They must include qualifications that, when achieved, prove the Apprentice's competence in carrying out work of the Level and type identified in the Framework. Also included must be qualifications which demonstrate the technical knowledge of the job and industry, plus more wide ranging general skills required to operate successfully in the trade; these will include Maths, English and, if appropriate, ICT and Employer Rights and Responsibilities.
The different elements can be combined in one qualification, or be covered in separate qualifications, but all elements must be achieved to obtain a full Apprentice Certificate. This course is ideal for individuals who are working as a fabricator or welder who wish to improve their skills or knowledge and develop advanced skills.

What do you need?
You must be employed by an engineering company, earning a wage whilst gaining the skills and qualifications employers need and value. Many people find their own job or are already employed but if not, college staff can help you find employment. A minimum of GCSE grade 5 in maths and 4 in English and science or technology subject, satisfactory interview, and you should demonstrate an interest or knowledge of working in the vocational area and wish to take up a career in a relevant industry

You could progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship in Fabrication and Welding Level 3.
